AFP™-R is a solvent-washable plate with reduced environmental impact and improved pre-press and press productivity. The plate comes in two versions – flat top and round top – designed for high quality flexible packaging, label and paper applications, offering several improvements over a standard solvent-wash plate.

Much like with good chocolate, there are different “flavors” and properties. Think of the difference between standard milk chocolate and puffed rice chocolate. For our plates, the comparison is similar! In conventional plate chemistry, the entire polymer must dissolve in the solvent, which takes time. In AFP™-R plates, only the polymer part dissolves, while other components are washed away as small particles—greatly accelerating the washout process.

As the AFP™-R plate uses less polymer to be processed by the solvent washer, the plate washout speed is increased. Faster plate processing also means the plate is in contact with the solvent for a shorter time, resulting in faster drying and reduced plate swelling.
